The Sparrow Who Flooded a Village
Diu is bored during her summer holidays until she notices a tiny sparrow on her balcony. Her Paati then tells her a funny village story about a greedy sparrow who loved payasam so much that it accidentally flooded an entire village! Inspired by a word-of-mouth tale the author heard from her grandmother during childhood, this story also explores why sparrows are disappearing from our cities and how we can help protect them. Perhaps, while reading, you may remember the soft little chit-chit sounds from your own childhood too. And after you finish the story, listen carefully… maybe a tiny sparrow is chirping nearby, waiting to say hello. 🌿
