Privacy Policy for English Book Reader AI & Learn
Last updated: October 27, 2026
This Privacy Policy explains how Cao Vu Hung, the operator of englishbookreader.com (“we”, “us”, or “our”), handles information when you use English Book Reader AI & Learn (the “App”). The App helps you read English books and documents, listen with text-to-speech, translate sentences, and learn vocabulary, phrases, and grammar from the content you choose.
This policy covers the App. Browsing, Library downloads, website contributions and copyright reports are covered separately by the Website Privacy Policy.
Information We Collect
Books, documents, and reading content
The App lets you import or create reading content, including PDF, EPUB and Word (.docx) files, pasted text, scans, photos, and notes. You can also export a document, a folder or your whole library as an .ebrbook bundle and import one back; a bundle is written to storage you choose and is not sent to us. Your library content, reading progress, marks, highlights, playback state, saved learning cards, voice settings, language settings, and app preferences are stored on your device where possible.
Text is extracted from supported files so the App can display it, read it aloud, and help you learn from it. For scanned pages or photos, the App may use text recognition (OCR). Reading and offline text-to-speech are designed to run on your device. We do not use your book or document content for advertising, and we do not sell it.
When you use AI vocabulary, phrase, grammar, dictionary, or sentence translation features, the App may send selected sentences, surrounding context, document identifiers, your learning language, your native language, and your selected learning level to our backend services so the learning analysis can be generated. These requests are used to provide the feature, enforce access limits, improve reliability, and prevent abuse. They are not used for targeted advertising.
If you delete documents or saved cards in the App or uninstall the App, locally stored data may be removed according to your device operating system’s behavior.
Voice model downloads and cached audio
Voices and models may be downloaded from GitHub Releases or other file hosts and then used offline. The host may receive your IP address and the requested file. Generated audio may be cached on your device and cleared where the App provides that option.
Purchase, subscription, and trial information
If you start a free trial, subscribe to a paid plan, restore a purchase, or otherwise use paid access, your payment and subscription management are handled by Apple App Store or Google Play. We do not receive or store your full payment card details. Paid access in the App is sold as auto-renewable subscriptions; the current plans, prices, and billing periods are shown in the App and described in our Terms of Use.
To activate, validate, or restore access, the App sends purchase and entitlement information to our backend services, such as:
- product identifier;
- purchase token, transaction identifier, or receipt data;
- purchase or subscription status;
- platform;
- app identifier and app version;
- the random device identifier described below.
We use purchase and usage records to provide trials, validate subscriptions, restore access, enforce usage limits, prevent fraud and resolve purchase issues. Current trial and subscription terms are described in the App and our Terms of Use.
Device identifier
The App generates a random installation identifier. It is not an advertising identifier or hardware serial number. We use it to associate purchases, trials, AI access, analytics, notifications, support and crash reports with the same installation. It may reset when you uninstall the App or clear its data.
Usage analytics
The App sends usage events, such as screens opened, features used, import and reading events, app version and platform, to our backend services. It also uses Firebase Analytics, which may process an app instance identifier and technical device information. The device identifier may link analytics and crash reports to the same installation.
We use this information to understand usage, improve reliability and prevent abuse. The App does not request the advertising identifier or track you across other companies’ apps or websites for advertising.
Diagnostics and crash data
Firebase Crashlytics processes crash logs, error details, device model, operating system, app version and the device identifier to help us diagnose errors and improve reliability. We do not use crash data for advertising.
Support messages and attachments
When you contact in-app support, we receive your messages, chosen attachments, device identifier, platform and app version. We retain the conversation to respond and follow up. Camera or photo access is requested when needed for imports, scans or attachments. Do not include sensitive information you do not want us to receive.
Notifications
With your permission, Firebase Cloud Messaging and Apple Push Notification service deliver notifications such as support replies. We may receive the push token, device identifier, platform, app version and notification-open events. You can disable notifications in device settings and continue using the App.
Automatically collected technical information
Our backend and service providers may receive IP addresses, device and operating-system information, language, app version and request times for delivery, security, diagnostics and access validation.
How We Use Information
We use the information described above to provide reading and AI learning features, remember settings, validate purchases and trials, enforce usage limits, respond to support requests, deliver permitted notifications, improve reliability and meet legal obligations.
Sharing of Information
We use service providers to operate the App:
- Apple and Google for distribution, purchases, subscriptions and refunds;
- Firebase/Google for analytics, crash reporting and push notifications, and Apple Push Notification service for iOS notifications;
- GitHub or other file hosts for voice and model downloads;
- hosting and AI service providers to process requests, including selected reading content sent for AI analysis, and operate our backend, storage and support services.
These providers may receive the data needed for their services. App stores and other third-party services also have their own privacy policies and terms. We may disclose information when required by law or to protect users, rights and services.
We do not sell personal information or use your reading content for targeted advertising.
Data Retention
Locally stored documents, reading data, saved cards, settings, and cached audio remain on your device until you delete them in the App, clear app data, or uninstall the App, subject to your operating system’s behavior.
Backend records related to purchases, subscriptions, trial activation, access checks, AI learning analysis, analytics, support, notification delivery, and diagnostics may be retained for as long as needed to provide access, support refunds and disputes, comply with legal obligations, prevent fraud, improve reliability, and operate the App.
Security
We use reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect information. However, no method of storage or transmission is completely secure. You are responsible for keeping your device, app store account, and backups secure.
Your Choices
You can delete documents and saved learning cards, clear cached audio where available, manage notification and camera/photo permissions in device settings, and choose whether to use online AI features or send support attachments. Manage or cancel subscriptions through Apple App Store or Google Play.
To request access, correction or deletion of information we hold, email [email protected]. We may need information to identify your installation or verify the request. Records needed for legal obligations, purchase disputes or fraud prevention may be retained. Deleting local app data does not automatically delete backend records or cancel a subscription.
Children’s Privacy
Children should use the App with a parent or legal guardian’s consent and supervision where required by local law. Parents and guardians should help children choose reading content and decide whether to use online AI features or contact support, since those features send information to our services. If you believe a child has sent personal information without the required consent, contact us to request its deletion.
International Users
Your information may be processed in countries other than the country where you live. These countries may have different data protection laws. Where required, we take steps intended to protect your information according to applicable law.
Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. If we make material changes, we will update the “Last updated” date and may provide additional notice where required.
