Privacy Policy for the English Book Reader Website
Last updated: October 16, 2026
This Privacy Policy explains how NgheRo.Vn (“we”, “us”, or “our”) handles information when you visit https://www.englishbookreader.com (the “Website”), including its Blog, free PDF Library, book contribution forms and copyright reporting forms.
The Website is operated by Cao Vu Hung as an individual household business trading as NgheRo.Vn (Household Business Registration No. 41L8042932, Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam).
This policy covers the Website. The English Book Reader AI & Learn mobile app has a separate App Privacy Policy, covering document processing, AI learning, purchases, notifications and other app services. Visiting the Website does not upload your app library or saved learning data to us.
Browsing, Search and Downloads
You do not need an account, payment or the mobile app to browse the Website, search or filter the Library, read book descriptions or download available ebooks.
Our hosting and delivery services receive technical request information, which may include your IP address, requested URL, browser and device information, request headers, referring page and timestamps. Library searches and filters can appear in requested URLs. We use this information to deliver pages and files, operate search, maintain reliability and prevent abuse. Avoid entering private or sensitive information into public search fields.
The Website runs on WordPress and is delivered through Cloudflare. These services and our hosting infrastructure may process request information for delivery, caching, logging and security.
Library Reading Marks
When you mark a book as read or unread, the Website saves book identifiers in your browser’s local storage under ebr-library-read-v1. The Library uses them to show reading badges and progress on that browser. This feature does not create an account or sync those marks with the mobile app or other devices.
You can change a mark using the book controls or remove all marks by clearing this Website’s browser storage. Blocking local storage may prevent reading marks from being saved; browsing and downloads remain available.
Library Star Ratings
If you rate a Library book, we store the book identifier, your 1–5 star score, a pseudonymous browser identifier and submission/update times on our server. A signed essential cookie, ebr_library_voter, lasts up to one year and lets you change or remove your rating from the same browser. Public pages show only the average and number of ratings. We do not publish individual browser identifiers. Ratings remain until you remove them, the book is deleted, or they are removed for abuse or operational reasons; clearing cookies does not delete an existing server-side rating and may prevent you from managing it. We use short-lived keyed connection hashes for rate limits, rather than storing an IP address in the rating record. These ratings are not verified identities and do not sync with the App yet. Contact us about data requests; identifying a rating after its cookie is lost may not be possible.
Security and Abuse Prevention
We use short-lived keyed connection hashes and counters to limit failed sign-ins, form-token requests, submissions and rating requests. These counters do not store your password or publish your IP address. Our hosting and delivery services may separately keep request and security logs as described above. Administrator two-factor authentication is configured individually; it is separate from browsing and downloading Library books.
Age Confirmation for 18+ Books
Books marked 18+ require an age declaration before opening or downloading. We ask you to confirm that you are at least 18; we do not request your birth date or identity documents for this check. A signed essential cookie, ebr_library_adult, remembers confirmation for the selected book for up to four hours. It does not create an account or verify your identity. Choosing another restricted book, cookie expiry or clearing cookies may require confirmation again. Blocking this cookie prevents access to restricted downloads. Technical request logs may record access to the confirmation/download routes as described above. No separate date-of-birth or identity record is created by this feature.
Cookies and Website Analytics
If you choose light or dark mode, the Website stores that choice in a functional cookie, ebr_theme, for up to one year. It contains only light or dark and is used to restore the display preference. Before you make a choice, the Website follows your device’s color scheme without setting this cookie. You can switch modes or clear the cookie through your browser settings.
The Website uses Google Analytics 4 to understand visits, pages viewed and general audience characteristics so we can improve the Website. Analytics may use cookies such as _ga and process browser identifiers, page URLs, referral information, approximate location, device type, browser, operating system and interaction events. Google may process an IP address to derive approximate location; this does not mean we receive a list of visitors’ IP addresses in analytics reports. See Google’s Analytics privacy information.
We do not use Website analytics to build advertising profiles, and the Website does not display advertising. Analytics identifiers can distinguish browsers across visits even when we do not know a visitor’s name.
Library ratings, contribution and copyright forms use an essential security cookie, ebr_library_form, with a one-hour lifetime, together with single-use server-side tokens. They help verify form requests and prevent replay. WordPress or delivery services may also use cookies needed for authentication or security when those functions are used.
You can block or delete cookies through your browser settings, and Google offers an Analytics opt-out browser add-on. Browsing and ebook downloads work without analytics cookies. Blocking essential form cookies may prevent submissions. Private browsing does not by itself stop analytics requests.
Book Contributions
If you submit an English PDF for review, we receive:
- your name, email address and chosen public contributor name;
- the PDF and its file information, including size and a hash used to identify the file;
- book title, author information, summary, source links, rights basis and supporting rights details;
- confirmations about your age and authority to share the exact edition, and submission timestamps and reference information.
We use these records to review the book, check distribution rights, assess safety, contact you if needed and decide whether to publish it. A submission is private pending review and is not automatically published. Pending PDFs are encrypted in storage and available to authorized reviewers.
If approved, the PDF, public book details, attribution, source, reuse conditions and chosen contributor name become publicly accessible. Your email address and private review evidence are not displayed on the public book page. Include only material suitable for public distribution in the PDF and public book fields: downloaded copies may be kept or shared by others under the applicable license.
Copyright Reports and Follow-up
If you report a copyright concern, we collect your name, email, affected Website URL, identification of the protected work, explanation, contact details, declarations and electronic signature. We also keep the report reference, review decisions and relevant follow-up correspondence.
We use this information to evaluate the report, investigate rights, communicate with affected parties, restrict or restore material where appropriate and handle disputes. Relevant notice, contributor or supporting information may be disclosed to affected parties, professional advisers or authorities when reasonably necessary for those purposes or required by law. Do not include unnecessary sensitive information in a report or submission.
Support and Abuse Prevention
When you email us, we receive your email address and the information and attachments you choose to send. We use them to respond and follow up; contacting support does not subscribe you to marketing.
The Library uses keyed hashes of email addresses and connection information for rate limits and abuse prevention. These are pseudonymous security records, rather than a guarantee of anonymity. We may keep contributor blocking records, withdrawn-file hashes and moderation history to address repeated infringement or abuse. These measures are not used for advertising.
Sharing and International Processing
We do not sell your personal information. Information may be processed by hosting, security, analytics and communication providers needed to operate the Website, including Cloudflare and Google Analytics. Public contributions are shared as described above. We may disclose information to comply with legal requirements or protect users, rights and services.
Providers may process information in countries other than yours, where privacy laws may differ. Where required, we use safeguards for international transfers. External sources, license pages, app stores and other linked websites operate under their own policies; following a link may send technical request information to that service.
Retention and Security
Reading marks stay in your browser until you change them or clear storage, subject to browser behavior. The form security cookie and its token have a one-hour lifetime.
Pending PDF files are scheduled to expire after 30 days if not approved; deletion occurs when scheduled cleanup runs. Rejected PDFs are deleted when rejection is processed. Approved publication files are retained while offered in the Library, subject to removal, backups and any need to preserve evidence. Removing a listing cannot retrieve copies already downloaded by others.
Contact information, submission details, rights evidence, copyright notices, review history and support correspondence are retained for as long as reasonably necessary for review, follow-up, abuse prevention, disputes and legal obligations. Technical logs, analytics and backups follow their operational retention settings; we do not promise a fixed deletion period for every provider. Backup copies may remain until their normal rotation.
We use access controls and reasonable technical and organizational safeguards. No storage or transmission method is completely secure. Encryption of pending PDFs does not mean that every submission field or communication is end-to-end encrypted.
Your Choices and Rights
You can browse without contributing, clear reading marks, manage cookies, block analytics and choose what to send in forms or support messages. Depending on applicable law, you may request access, correction, deletion, restriction or portability of information we control, object to certain processing, or withdraw consent where processing relies on consent. Withdrawal does not affect earlier lawful processing. You may also have a right to complain to a competent privacy authority.
Contact us using the details below and include your submission or report reference where available. We may need information to verify your request. Some records may be retained for legal obligations, disputes or abuse prevention. A deletion request does not revoke rights others already hold under an applicable open license.
Children
The Website is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect their personal information. Book contributors must confirm that they are at least 18. If you believe a child has sent us personal information, contact us so we can review and take appropriate action.
Changes and Contact
We may update this policy as the Website changes. We will update the date above and provide additional notice where required.
